History

1944  Established Kobayashi-Riken Seisakusho Ltd., and started the manufacture and sale of ultrasonic detector and their parts for military purpose.
At the ending of the war, converted the business line to the manufacture and sale of civil acoustic equipment.

1948

Developed the first Hearing Aid in Japan and started its manufacture and sale.

1952

Developed Audiometer and started its manufacture and sale

1956

Developed Sound Level Meter and started its manufacture and sale.

1960

Established Rion Metal Engineering Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary)

1960

Altered the corporate name to Rion Co., Ltd.

1965

Developed Vibration Meter and started its manufacture and sale.

1969

Established Tohoku Rion Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary)

1970

Acquired equities of Komiyadenki Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary and renamed to kyushu Rion Co., Ltd.)

1977

Developed Light Scattering Particle Counters and started its manufacuture and sale.

1979

Established Rion Electronic Industries Co., Ltd. (Taiwan, R.O.C.)
(currently an equity-method affiliate company)

1981

Developed Seismometer and started its manufacture and sale.

1983

Succeeded in the research and development of Artificial Middle Ear Implant by the contract given by Agency of Industrial Science and Technology of MITI.

1991

Developed Hearing Aid utilizing digital signal processing technology and started its manufacture and sale.

1996


Registered at the over-the-counter exchange of Japan Securities Dealers Association.


1996

Established Rion Insurance Ltd., (currently a non-consolidated subsidiary)

1997

Took over Kokusai Hochouki Co., Ltd. (currently named Kanto Rion Co., Ltd. a consolidated subsidiary)

2000

Listed at Second Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange.

2002

Established Rion Service Center Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary)

2002

Established Rion Techno Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary)

2003

Japan's first automatic shell making system for custom-made hearing aid.
"yumejikoubou" started production.

2005

World's first custom-made waterproof dijital hearing aid marketed.

2007

Japan's first and Rion-sponsored world deaf surfing championship for "Rionet Cup" held.

2007

Observational equipment for the newly set "Environmental Quality Standard for Aircraft Noise" marketed.
