Vol.52022/9When I was first assigned to the Editorial Committee, I felt uncomfortable since everything about the job was new to me. But I once had the opportunity to see a junior colleague of mine interview people. I was surprised to discover a passionate side to the normally stoic person who generally did his duties in a matter-of-fact manner. It was the same passion I had glimpsed in him when he was starting off at Rion, when he would talk about his aspirations with a sparkle in his eye. I would like to relay that pure devotion among the staff here with our articles in the Rion Technical Journal.Ever since, I’ve found myself excited about our next project, wondering how interesting the next interview will be, or how great our next article can be. [Hamanaka]This is my first year on the Editorial Committee. We the members of the Editorial Committee discuss various projects for RTJ. Through these discussions, I’ve come to appreciate the enthusiasm and energy so characteristic of our company. This journal also features content that attempts to relay as much of this enthusiasm and energy as possible. We encourage you to keep reading this and future issues! [Yamakawa]Editorial ForewordCover Art: Dust-free clothing and a cleanroomA row of dust-free clothing is hung neatly on a rack at the en-trance to a cleanroom, where precision products are developed and manufactured. Operators also wear white hats to keep all dust out of this workspace. A sense of vigilance characteristic of cleanrooms hangs in the air. But the instruments and the tasks, blurred by vinyl curtains, appear almost dream-like. The artwork attempts to convey the cloister-like air and the contrast between inside the cleanroom and outside.By Yusuke Kitajima (woodblock artist)Completed the graduate course in block printing at the Musashino Art University in 2014. He draws on a unique method that combines the techniques of woodblock printing and mono-typing to create a single unique print, using familiar everyday items as subjects.PROJECT STORY A Documentary of Product Development at RionResponding to the Diverse Needs of Environmental MeasurementBehind the Scenes: The Birth of RP MonitorHISTORY OF TECHNOLOGY Rion’s Technologies Over the YearsPart 5: Hearing AidsA Spotlight on the Tumultuous Transition from Analog to DigitalFROM NOW ON The Now and Future of RionFUTURE TALK SESSION A talk session with our core staff engineersFuture Technologies and Rion’s FutureIN THE BACKYARD On the Front Lines of Technology DevelopmentA Futuristic Device to Help Rediscover the Joy of ConversationWhat are Hearing Assist Devices?TALES OF RION See and Hear Tales of Rion Products and Daily Life! The Guardians of Product SafetyFROM OVERSEAS Rion Across the SeaSingaporeOUR FAVORITE TOWN, KOKUBUNJI RION Staff Show You AroundStrolls Around Kokubunji[Cultural Exchange at a Beer Bar in Kokubunji!]ACTIVITYRion’s [Activity Report]EPILOGUE SCIENCE, SCIENCE!
