I hope our mag-azine, through its presentations of the activities and latest trends in the Rion group, will help our readers make new dis-coveries and gain new insights. In this issue, I am in charge of the “Rion meets Kokubunji” series and report on the history of Kokubunji. Some may think of history as a stuffy topic charac-terized by the rote memory of random events. Actually, learn-ing about history has the power to change how we perceive the present. I hope you can gain a sense of familiarity with Kokubunji through our magazine. (Okabe)Cover Art: A Particle Generator and an Airborne Particle CounterWhat caught our attention about the particle generator were the glass tubes, which resemble a series of connected gourds. Installed within a clean room, the particle generator serves as a device used to inspect airborne particle counters. While this device mostly operates behind the scenes, it plays a crucial role in making the precise measurements necessary for manufacturing. Due to its highly specialized nature, I engaged in multiple conversations with a specialist to truly grasp its essence. During these discussions, I found myself repeatedly amazed by the technical expertise concealed beneath its unassuming exterior.By Yusuke Kitajima (woodblock artist)Completed the graduate course in block printing at Musashino Art University in 2014. His distinctive approach, taking familiar every-day items as subjects, combines the techniques of woodblock print-ing and monotyping to create a single unique print.CopyrightⒸ RION All Right ReservedA former employee of Rion contacted us with valuable in-formation about our hearing aids. After reading an article in RION Technical Journal about the H-501, the first mass-pro-duced domestically-manufactured hearing aid developed by Rion, he recalled that he had once donated an H-501 unit to a hearing aid museum in the U.S. when he was still with Rion. He informed us he has contacted the museum and learned that the H-501 is still being exhibited there. I’d love to visit this U.S. hearing aid museum he has talked about.
