That marked the start of my in-volvement with this magazine. Subsequently, I was asked to become a member of the editorial board, which put me in a position to propose topics for the magazine. This is the third issue I’ve worked on. To date, I’ve resorted to whatever wit I have to complete the tasks at hand. In this issue, we focus on the behind-the-scenes efforts of those who supported our technical evolution. While not always receiving the spotlight they deserve, these individuals remain an essential part of Rion’s history. We hope the stories will give you a glimpse of the spirit of those who have confronted the challenges of pro-duction in Japan, a country that is often shunned due to costs. (Yamazaki)Thank you for taking the time to read the Rion Technical Journal—indeed thank you for even reading this contents page. I’ve known about this journal since the days of Shake Hands, the predecessor to the Rion Technical Journal, but I haven’t had the chance to become more deeply involved. One day at work, I was suddenly asked to take the place of a member of the editorial board. Since then, I’ve spent my days frantically trying to familiarize myself with this new task. Now, I find myself appearing in this issue! Through my work as a member of the editorial team, I’ve experienced first-hand in various forms the passion that drives the staff and have myself felt renewed as a result. I hope I manage to convey this pas-sion—which we all share—to you, the reader through this issue. (Harada)Cover Art: A precision sound level meter (with low-frequency sound measurement function) and wind turbinesThis sound level meter is a culmination of Rion’s heritage of measure-ment technologies. The large display and the simple yet sophisticated layout of buttons on the instrument offer many functions not evident at first glance. The artist portrayed, in a sober and straightforward manner, his wit-nessing of a measurement being conducted on wind turbines, which are standard measurement targets.By Yusuke Kitajima (woodblock artist)Completed the graduate course in block printing at Musashino Art University in 2014. His distinctive approach, taking familiar every-day items as subjects, combines the techniques of woodblock print-ing and monotyping to create a single unique print.CopyrightⒸ RION All Right ReservedNo portion of this journal may be reprinted or redistributed without prior consent. The Future of Rion and Norsonic—as envisioned by the staff at Norsonic AS, a Norwegian acoustic instruments manufacturerRion’s [Activity Report]2024/102 0610121416181920Vol.9
