Downtown HanoiHanoi, the capital of Vietnam with a population of around 8.4 million, is the nation’s second largest economic center, after Ho Chi Minh City. Despite its remarkable economic development, the Old Quarter retains its traditional ambiance, making it a popular tourist destination.Aircraft noise monitoring at Noi Bai International Airport (Vietnam)3Our achievements in aircraft noise monitoring in JapanThe origins of Rion are steeped in the creation, promotion, and mainte-nance of sound and vibration measurement devices, a legacy that persists as the heart of our business today. Since the release of the first compact sound level meter in Japan in 1956, Rion has continued to develop measur-ing instruments in cooperation with government agencies. One such instrument is the aircraft noise monitoring system, first developed in 1979. This system was widely adopted by local governments and public agencies across Japan under heavy pressure to implement countermeasures to air-craft noise. Eventually, these technologies developed into an online system that linked fixed monitoring points around the airports. Even today, these systems are often found at international and domestic airports in Japan, including Narita Airport, as well as self-defense forces air bases. Now, Rion’s experience with the aircraft noise monitoring system in Japan over the years is being employed to help solve environmental problems overseas.Aircraft noise has become an issue in many countries around the world.Rion is currently working on a joint technical project to monitor aircraft noise at an international airport in Vietnam using our state-of-the-art equipment and know-how.We interviewed two staff members who are hard at work on this project.
