17SEMICON is an exhibition for the supply chains of the electronics manufacturing industry. Held in vari-ous locations around the world, it features products from leading global manufacturers, ranging from equipment, components, and materials for the semiconductor indus-try to SMART applications for automotive and IoT devic-es. In Japan, the exhibition is held in Tokyo every Decem-ber. This is the 47th SEMICON Japan event to be held in Tokyo.Rion has participated in SEMICON Japan almost every year since the 1980s. We showcase our products, primarily particle counters used in the semiconductor industry, and exchange information with potential and existing customers. Since the most advanced equipment, materials, and technologies will be on display at SEMI-CON Japan, we can also expect to gather information that can be applied to new product development. The previous exhibition was held at Halls 1-6 of the Tokyo Big Sight. Halls 7 and 8 were added to the venue for this year’s event. Possibly due to the return of semi-conductor manufacturing bases to Japan in recent years, a trend backed by municipal governments, this year’s SEMICON Japan became the largest exhibition in which the Particle Counter Division has participated post-Covid. The impression gathered at this event was that the number of visitors to the Rion booth has returned to pre-Covid levels, while the numbers of visitors and participants from abroad appear to have increased for the exhibition as a whole. According to the official announce-ment, the 2023 event attracted 85,282 visitors, compared to 51,840 in 2022.What is unusual about SEMICON as an exhibition held in Japan is that the organizing committee hosts a happy hour from 16:00 on Thursday, offering drink ser-vices to encourage candid exchange between the parties participating in the exhibition and the visitors. The Rion booth featured the KC-52A airborne parti-cle counter, a new product. Also on display were our latest advanced liquid-borne particle counters—the KS-20F, KS-19F, and KS-41B—and the airborne particle counters, the KC-31, KA-03, and KA-02. The liquid-borne particle counters are already in wide use in Japan and abroad for quality control of chemicals and other substances. Many customers, both based in Japan and abroad, visited our booth to learn about our liquid-borne particle counters. They exchanged information with our sales representa-tives and received responses to various questions about the counters' regular operation and considerations for deployment.SEMICON Japan 2024 is scheduled to be held from December 11 to 13, 2024. To continue improving the quality of our products and services, Rion will make the most of such valuable opportunities to promote our prod-ucts and actively exchange information with participants. The main floor of the SEMICON Japan 2023 (courtesy of SEMI JAPAN)Rion’s exhibition boothNew Rion KC-52A airborne particle counterSEMICON Japan 2023At Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo) from December 13 to 15, 2023https://www.semiconjapan.org/jpThe number of participants jumped at this post-Covid meeting, where much lively conversation was enjoyed.SEMICON Japan 2023Report
