15Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), the University of TokyoIIS, The University of Tokyo, located in Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, is an engineering research institute affiliated with the University of To-kyo. The Sakamoto Laboratory, led by Professor Shinichi Sakamoto, is well-known in Japan for its advanced research into the sound environment of cities and architectural structures. This research draws on environmen-tal and applied acoustics knowledge and theories. The laboratory houses Japan's largest anechoic room, where it reproduces the sound envi-ronment of a given site using a pro-prietary simulation system. Through processes such as sound field predic-tion, acoustic measurement, sound field reproduction, and psychological evaluation, the laboratory continues to advance environmental control technologies and pursue research aimed at improving the sound envi-ronment in urban and architectural spaces.http://www.acoust.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp/ NL-53 Class1 Sound Level MeterThe NL-53 measures noise generated in factories, at construction sites, by automobiles, railways, aircraft, and in everyday environments. Equipped with networking functions that allow remote access from anywhere in the world, it is ideal for applications such as environmental noise monitoring, noise monitoring from factory equip-ment and machinery, and noise mon-itoring at factory site boundaries. This precision sound level meter, fea-turing a LAN terminal, USB Type-C connector, and a color LCD touch panel, is designed to dramatically enhance usability and connectivity with other devices, making it perfect for a wide range of applications. In this issue, we visited a laboratory that conducts investigation and research on noise in cities with a multi-perspective approach. How are Rion products used inside this laboratory?Manga: Asako Nakagawa
