This device is packed with technology, although its compact form factor may make it hard to figure out what it is at first glance. Expressing the intricacy of the device was a challenge, but I was able to convey the density using the many different color patches.Yusuke Kitajima (woodblock artist)Completed the graduate course in block printing at Musashino Art University in 2014. His distinctive approach, taking familiar every-day items as subjects, combines the techniques of woodblock print-ing and monotyping to create a single unique print.Thank you for taking the time to read the Rion Technical Journal. In this issue, we introduce a new employee training program—unique to RION—which includes the hands-on assembly of hearing aids. We also discuss how Rion’s products are used in university laboratories. For the manga section, we visited Sakamoto Laboratory at the Institute of Industrial Science of the University of Tokyo, where we learned how Rion products are used in research intended to improve people’s lives. I hope this magazine will show you the fascinating nature of the work that we do at Rion, and help persuade you of the role that that Rion, often unseen, plays in everyday life. (Zamami)Until recently, I interacted with our customers as part of the sales staff. Now that I’ve been assigned to a different section within the Particle Counter Division, I interact with customers in a slightly different way. Nearly 15 years ago I completed my new employee training, but now I’m attending another round of new employee training, this time, in the manufac-turing department to learn the requirements for my current work. I’m currently doing my best to adapt to working in this new environment. I hope to be able to contribute to articles associated with fine particles and other departments from a perspective different from the one we had in Shake Hands, the predecessor to the Rion Technical Journal.
