Nowadays, the process of maintaining health is changing, with a focus on prevention and pre-disease, the stages before a diagnosis is nec-essary, and with the addition of the concept of post-treatment care. To keep up with these changes, we need to expand our business horizons. Rion is in a unique position to support those working in the field of hearing from the preventative side and to reframe diagnosis and treatment as part of a larger process that shouldn’t be kept as separate. Once this rebranding succeeds in a way that matters, we will be able to deliver the optimal proposals at the optimal time to those who need hearing aids. We might be able to help people who had previously given up on improving their hearing, an issue which accelerates cognitive decline. At the same time, we expect Rionet hearing aids to evolve more quickly, which will strengthen the support we provide. According to one survey, some 15 to 20 million people in Japan should be wearing hearing aids. Only around 15% of these people actually do so. We want to deliver the multiple benefits that hearing aids can offer to those who should use them, at the earliest possible date. That’s why I have to see this rebranding project through to the end, no matter how hard that might be.” At the end of the interview, Ota advised me to look forward to seeing how the Rionet brand fares over the next five or ten years.
