This curious come-dy contest involved measuring the volume of the audience’s laughter and applause to select the winner. Rion conducted a preliminary investiga-tion into methods for evaluating laughter and applause and carried out measurements on the day of the event. The NL-53 sound level meter was remotely controlled by the NX-43EX function expansion program via LAN communication to obtain measurement data without obstructing the audience’s line of sight. The first champion of the Hakaru-1 Grand Prix was Zig Zag Zigi who won applause at 92.2 dB, equivalent to the loud noise emitted by many cicadas in midsummer. In order to visualize the excitement among the audience, a real-time sound source detection system called the Acoustic Camera was also set up. The screen connected to the Acoustic Camera turned completely bright red with laughter and applause from the audience. Just like a ther-mograph screen, it showed the excitement at the venue. The event proved a great success, with more than 100 people gathered to watch on the day, including those standing. It was also archived and distributed on YouTube, where it was well-received.SEMICON® JAPAN was held at the Tokyo Big Sight from December 11 to 13, 2024. Widely known as an international exhibition event related to electronics manufacturing held once a year, it was the largest exhibi-tion associated with semiconductors in Japan.Reflecting the current boom in the semiconductor industry due to the ongoing advancement of AI, the event was a great success, with over 100,000 visitors from Japan and abroad during the three days. Rion set up its booth at SEMICON again this year. We had a valuable opportunity to introduce our various products to almost 400 visitors at our booth during the exhibition.A wide range of products was placed on display, from our main prod-uct, the KS-20F liquid-borne particle counter, to airborne particle count-ers and the KC-52A handheld particle counter. Rion’s staff were always ready to answer questions from the visitors to the booth and exchange meaningful information with them. This event covers all semiconductor fields, from manufacturing technologies, equipment, and materials to SMART applications such as automotive and IoT devices. It offers us a great opportunity to understand current trends and developments in the semiconductor industry. We’re already looking forward to the next event. The First Hakaru-1 Grand PrixMeasurement ReportSEMICON® Japan 2024Report
