What kind of product is the KC-52A?The KC-52A measures and quantifies airborne particles, mainly for cleanliness control in clean rooms and other such environments. Unlike stationary models, the KC-52A is portable and handheld, and can be carried and used anywhere. It’s used for a wide range of applications, including clean rooms for semicon-ductor manufacturing, the pharmaceutical industry, and the food industry. What improvements does it offer over the previous model, the KC-52?The KC-52A is significantly easier to hold, thanks to the hour-glass grip shape. The LCD screen is larger and higher resolution. The main body has a white and blue color scheme that’s easy on the eyes. The user interface, including gears, folders, and other icons, has been designed to be intuitive and easy to understand. The Sales Section joined in with the development of the screen layout to give opinions, resulting in improved ease of use. In terms of functionality, in response to the demand for particle measure-ment across a broader range of sizes, the KC-52A can measure up to 10 µm, compared to 5 µm for the KC-52. Trend graphs, which previously required data to be transferred to a computer and displayed using spreadsheet software, can now be viewed directly on the product’s screen. This lets users observe changes over time while on site. The KC-52A also includes an audit trail function. What does the audit trail function do?This function lets you track the operational history on the product itself. Among our users, pharmaceutical customers in particular place great importance on operation history, i.e., who did what, and when. Up to six users can be registered on the KC-52A. The data can be output to PDF, so the measurement data can’t be altered or modified. In addition, the number of measure-ment results that can be saved has been expanded from 5,000 to 10,000.How does the KC-52A differ from products from other companies?Ease of use is the key difference. To give our customers first-hand experience using the KC-52A, we show them an actual instrument and even loan it out for the trial. I should add that Rion is the only manufacturer in Japan that produces all types of particle counters—both airborne and liquid-borne counters—domestically. Even for older models, we retain parts for eight years after final production ends, which provides the assurance of maintenance and quality after-sales service for our customers. From the perspective of a sales representative, what’s the recommended use of the KC-52A?Handheld particle counters are more affordable and easier to deploy than stationary models. For customers considering par-ticle counters for the first time, we recommend this product as a prime candidate for evaluating cleanliness. On the other hand, for customers who already use our con-tinuous monitoring system, we recommend using handheld particle counters in conjunction with the system. The continuous monitoring system involves installing multiple stationary particle counters and performing monitoring automatically in real-time from a single computer. That enables continuous measurement for the areas in your production line where cleanliness is particu-larly critical. If you use a handheld particle counter in addition for routine monitoring at each measurement point, you can not only evaluate cleanliness classes based on JIS standards, but verify that the continuous monitoring system is functioning properly. It is our hope that this use of the KC-52A will grow more widespread.Evolution of the screen displayThe new color screen measures 4.3 inches, with a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels, an improvement from 320 × 240 pixels in the previous model. Storage holds up to 10,000 measurement results. Audit trails are easily output. The password function accommodates up to six users.Expanding the KC-52AThe KC-52A is equipped with a USB-C port for connecting to PCs, printers, and AC adapters. Addi-tionally, a communication dock (sold separately) can be used to enable multi-point monitoring via Ethernet communication.KC-52A Airborne Particle CounterThis model marks the first major update in 12 years. The new model features enhanced lightweight design and ease of use, along with an audit trail function and PDF output and other data integrity features to pre-vent data tampering. This handheld particle counter meets basic ISO and JIS performance standards. The simple user interface allows stress-free use. Additional real-time and historical graph display func-tions are now available. Users can select between Japanese and English for the display language. The particle size classification has been updated from the previous model’s 5-range display to a 6-range display for particle sizes of 0.3 µm or larger, 0.5 µm or larger, 1.0 µm or larger, 2.0 µm or larger, 5.0 µm or larger, and 10.0 µm or larger.Carrying caseCommunication dock11Visit our website for more information on this product.
