Rion was honored with the President’s Award at the conference of the Japan Association of Aerosol Science and Technology. Among its various activities to promote technological advancement in the field of aerosols, JAAST, an academic organization of researchers and engineers in academia and industry associated with the field of aerosols, presents an Aerosol Measurement Award to individual researchers or teams contributing to research and development on measurement technologies. The President’s Award recognizes our support for the Aerosol Measurement Award and our efforts to promote JAAST and research in this field.Rion was presented with Outstanding Partner Company award by JR East Consultants Company at an awards ceremony held July 14, 2025. The award recognizes the consistency of our attentive services and our sincere efforts in investigating the causes of and finding solutions to the problems encountered after the deployment of seismometers. Our efforts throughout were highly evaluated, leading to this commendation.A paper presenting the results of joint research between the Hearing Aid Research Team of the AI R&D Group (Ryo Sato, Nobuhiko Hiruma, Chiho Haruta) and Associate Professor Keisuke Imoto of Kyoto University has been accepted for IEEE WASPAA 2025, an international conference and workshop on acoustic signal processing. Held biennially since 1986, the event features active exchange between industry and academia. In 2025, 95 of 211 submitted papers (approximately 45% of those submitted) were accepted for presentation. Passing this rigorous peer review process attests to the high quality of the research presented and demonstrates international recognition for the techni-cal value of our research. The conference, where Ryo Sato presented the work in person, was held in the United States in October 2025.A scene from the exhibition boothA scene from the oral presentationIEEE WASPAA 2025Event Dates: October 12–15, 2025Venue: Tahoe City, California, USA(Granlibakken Tahoe Resort)Hosted by the IEEE Signal Processing SocietyPresentations (including joint research)• Extending the Partial Equivalent Sound Pressure Level Model to Manage Residual Inter-Noise 2025, the world’s largest international conference on the findings of research on noise and vibration control and acoustics was held at the WTC Events Center in São Paulo, Brazil, from August 24 to 27, 2025. The conference proved a great success with some 700 participants from around the world, presenting seven keynote speeches (five of which were delivered by inter-national speakers) and 21 scientific sessions held across 15 venues. Brazilian researchers accounted for 39% of the oral presentations, highlighting the growing presence of Brazil on the international stage in the field of acoustics.Rion and Norsonic exhibited at a joint booth at this conference, presenting solutions for environmental noise monitoring, architectural acoustics, and workplace noise assessments that drew significant interest. The visitors to our booth had the opportunity to experience the actual performance and features of the instruments and engage in lively discussions with our staff. The booth was managed by Spanish-speaking employees from Norsonic in Norway. With support from our local distributor, we were able to communicate effectively with many participants from Latin America. In addition to the exhibition booth, Rion gave an oral presentation on a simple method for identifying wind noise based on differences in wind speed generated inside a wind screen, while Norsonic gave a presentation on the applications of AI to acoustic measurement. These presentations were followed by lively discussions and debate. The presentations confirmed growing interest in AI applications in the field of acoustic measurements.Moving forward, Rion and Norsonic will continue to strengthen our presence in Latin Amer-ica while striving to promote global innovation in acoustic technologies.(Jorge Páez Rodríguez)Inter-Noise 2025 Report Strong Interest in AI Applications Involving Acoustic Measurements17Inter-Noise 2025The 54th International Congress & Exposition on Noise Control Engineering[São Paulo (Brazil), August 24–27, 2025]ParticipantsDaniela Toledo Helboe, Jorge Páez Rodríguez (Norsonic AS)President’s Award presented by the Japan Association of Aerosol Science and TechnologyOutstanding Partner Company Award, JR East Consultants Company Paper accepted for IEEE WASPAA 2025Sound and Exclude Unwanted Events Identified with Artificial Intelligence Daniela Toledo Helboe, Karl Henrik Ejdfors, and Trond Iver Pedersen (Norsonic AS)• Simple identification method of wind noise using wind speed difference generated inside wind screen Tetsuya Doi, Keiichiro Iwanaga (Kobayasi Institute of Physical Research), Tsumugi Nakayama, and Yasutaka Nakajima (Rion)
