It offers mainly occupa-tional environmental protection equipment (sound and vibration measuring instruments) and personal safety equipment. As a technical company specializing in acoustic testing and analysis equipment, it is also ac-tive in exchange programs and research with academic institutions both domestically and internationally. In this regular feature, we bring you insights from Rion’s overseas bases, group companies, and distributors scattered around the world. This issue highlights Ring-In Trading Development Co., Ltd., a distributor of environmental instruments and medical devices in Taiwan. We spoke with Mr. Lin and Ms. Kuo from this company.Ring-In Trading Development Co., Ltd. was founded in 1977. Currently, approximately 70 employees handle Rion products such as sound level meters, vibration meters, hearing aids, and audiometers. The main targets for sound level meters are factories, government agencies, schools, and environmental consultants, while hearing aids are sold mainly to patients referred by hospitals as well as general consumers in Taiwan. What’s the reputation of Rion products like among the locals?“With regard to sound level meters and vibration meters, I believe they are of exceptionally high quality, although they are a bit more expensive than other brands,” explains Mr. Lin. “I think this is why Rion holds the leading market share and has strong brand power in Taiwan. The hearing aids are widely appreciated for the quality of hearing they provide and their ease of use. It would be even better if the app for hearing aid users were available in Chinese.”Mr. Lin goes on to give his opinion—that as a top brand, sound level meters could offer even more convenience through trend-setting strategies, including software development, AI integration, and cross-platform operations with smartphones. He’s a central figure for Rion in Taiwan—someone who never stops thinking about customer convenience, always searching for ways to attract more customers, create products that benefit society, and provide Rion with fresh ideas.Ms. Kuo believes building a strong partnership with Rion has positively influenced her approach to work. Exceptional quality, for which Rion products are renowned, played a role in this.“One customer of mine, a university professor, had stopped interacting with people due to his hearing loss. But thanks to Rion’s hearing aids, he regained his confidence and interest in interacting with people once again. I’ll never forget that day when he held my hands, thanking me, with tears of joy running down his face. It was because of Rion and the Ring-In Company that I felt such gratification for being able to assist people. I try each day to convey goodwill and warmth through our products and useful information. But in that moment, I realized the good you do eventually comes back.”Ring-In Company has also made significant contributions to Taiwanese society in the field of environmental noise. In 1987, it established the Acoustical Society of the Republic of China (currently the Taiwan Acoustical Association), together with researchers and experts in the fields of acoustics, hearing and speech, and noise and vibration, with government approval. In 2020 when the Taiwanese government established the motor vehicle noise control standards and introduced a traffic violation enforcement system utilizing sound level meters, Rion sound level meters distributed by Ring-In Company were selected for the system due to their higher precision than those of competing products. Since then, Ring-In Company has been working together with the government to address the issue of traffic noise prevention.“As we head into a super-aged society, demand for hearing aids will naturally increase,” says Mr. Lin. “But I also anticipate growing demand for sound level meters and vibration meters due to new legislation and heightened awareness of environmental health issues.”Ring-In Company has earned high praise for its meticulous after-sales service. From equipment installation, user education and training, instrument calibration, to maintenance and repairs, the company stays loyal to its customer-centric approach, and Rion could learn much from them. Ms. Kuo expressed her desire to further strengthen ties with Rion to provide even higher-quality products and services. In closing, we asked her about her impressions of Japan.“The scenery in Japan is beautiful, the environment is well-maintained, transportation is so convenient, and the food is absolutely delicious. Taiwan also has heartwarming cultures and histories in various regions, so I feel Japan and Taiwan have many things in common.”FROM OVERSEAS 19Rion products contribute to Taiwanese society with their high qualityRion Across the Sea
