We did this because we needed to determine the best sound pressure levels of the test sound (white noise) used during the measurements. Although we could improve the measurement accuracy of the initial transfer function by increasing the test sound pressure level to suppress the effects of ambient noise, we discovered the resulting output sound was too loud for the user. In short, there is a trade-off between accuracy in measurement and user discomfort. To resolve this issue, we went to multiple hearing aid retailers and measured noise levels throughout the day at each location. By analyzing the measurement results obtained from diverse envi-ronments—for example, noisy stores facing busy roads and quiet stores facing streets with little traffic, we determined the optimal test sound pressure level.”In addition to AI NR and improved feedback canceller, several other features were added to Rionet 2.
