Lasers generate highly coherent light beams of a single wavelength through the induction of a chain reaction of stimulated emissions within an excited medium (e.g., solid, gas, semiconductor). Laser beams are irradiated onto the target inside a particle counter, making it possible to detect the light scattered by particles.
